Edna Savage
Edna Savage was born on the 21 st of April 1936 in Broadbent Avenue, Latchford, Warrington . She went to Richard Fairclough Secondary School
Leaving school at 15 she worked as a telephone operator, but after singing at The Parr Hall, The Bell Hall and other local venues, she quit her telephone job to sing professionally.
Edna was a regular on TV, appearing in such shows as Easy To Remember, The Six Five Special, The Benny Hill Show, The Henry Hall Show and The Eamonn Andrews Show.
Edna made her first broadcast for the BBC in 1954 aged 18.
She recorded 'Arrivederci Darling' in 1956, which made it to number 19 in the UK Singles Chart.
Her trademark was a choker - a piece of velvet ribbon around her neck inset with a brooch.
Edna dubbed 'You Are My First Love', for Dorothy Bromiley, in the 1956 film It's Great To Be Young', even though on the film's poster it credits Ruby Murray
In 1957 she participated in the UK qualifying heat for the
Eurovision Song Contest.
